What is a voice disorder?
Voice disorders occur when voice quality, pitch, or loudness change due to injury that are structural, neurological, or functional in nature. A voice disorder is also known as dysphonia.

Voice disorders can be characterised in many ways. Some common features of voice disorders include:
- Roughness
- Breathiness
- Strain
- Weakness (asthenia)
- Loss of voice (aphonia)
- Hoarse voice
